Abstract: The fibrohistiocytic tumors of intermediate malignancy are uncommon mesenchymal tumors, which typically occur in the skin and subcutis and which may pose significant problems for the dermatopathologist. This article reviews the clinical, histopathologic, and genetic features of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans, giant cell fibroblastoma, angiomatoid (malignant) fibrous histiocytoma, plexiform fibrous histiocytoma, and soft tissue giant cell tumor (of low malignant potential).
