Abstract: We report a case of sarcoidosis in which primary pulmonary cavitation occurred during the administration of corticosteroid, and later relapsed after the cessation of corticosteroid treatment. A 24-year-old man, who had been diagnosed as having ocular sarcoidosis and was treated with corticosteroid, presented with multiple nodular shadows with enclosed a cavity on a chest radiograph. A chest CT scan showed mediastinal lymphadenopathy and multiple nodular opacities enclosing a cavity. Pathological findings from a transbronchial lung biopsy revealed non caseating epithelioid cell granulomas without any mycobacterial or fungal pathogen. The patient's general condition deteriorated three years after the discontinuation of corticosteroid therapy. After resumption of prednisolone (30 mg/day), clinical findings were improving.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
