    Abstract:
The prevalence of HIV encephalopathy in the era of HAART ist about 10%. HAART, which should contain drugs that penetrate into the CNS, can relieve symptoms or delay manifestation and progress of the disease. Depressive disorders are often not diagnosed, their prevalence is 16-37%. Thorough antidepressive treatment improves quality of life and general health. Pain syndromes occur in 30-60%, are also often underdiagnosed and should be treated. While choosing antidepressants and drugs against pain, attention must be paid on interactions with HAART via the cytochrome P450 system.
