Abstract: We studied the functional role of individual subtypes of muscarinic cholinoceptors in the pathogenesis of neuroleptic parkinsonism in rats. Blockade of M4 receptors prevented the development of extrapyramidal disorders, which was abolished by simultaneous blockade of M2 receptors.
