    Abstract:
    Patients with continuous pain in the pharynx were examined roentgenologically for calcification of the stylohyoid ligaments and the styloid process. Symptoms and surgical outcomes are described in cases with calcification of the stylohyoid process and muscle. Surgical treatment eliminated pain, noise in the ears, chronic pharyngeal inflammation. No recurrences occurred. Histological examination of the removed stylohyoid ligaments detected calcificated hyalin plaques in these ligaments.
