Title: [Surgical alternatives for infertile patients]. Author: Pomerol Monseny JM. Journal: Arch Esp Urol; 2004 Nov; 57(9):1011-6. PubMed ID: 15624400. Abstract: OBJECTIVES: We review the main issues on epididymis obstruction and its diagnosis, as well as therapeutic indications and surgical techniques for epididymovasostomy. METHODS: We describe the microsurgical end-to-side epididymovasostomy technique using double needle 10-0 sutures. RESULTS: Various techniques of epididymovasostomy achieve seminal tract permeability in 39-86% of the cases and pregnancy in 13-42%. CONCLUSIONS: Microsurgical epididymovasostomy and testicular/epididymal spermatozoid recovery for ICSI are the alternatives for epididymal obstruction. The choice of the most adequate method depends on various factors and patient's preferences after proper information.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
