  • Title: [Oxidation stress in open abdominal trauma with massive blood loss].
Journal: Klin Lab Diagn; 2005 Jan; (1):14-6. PubMed ID: 15765646.
    Abstract:
25 patients with open abdominal trauma concomitant with massive intra-abdominal hemorrhage (1.0-2.5 l) were examined. The oxidation stress (OS) was evaluated by the C(OS) factor LPO/AOS (LPO--lipid peroxidation, AOS--antioxidant system in blood serum). Examinations were made on days 1, 3 and 7 after surgery. Higher contents of pro- and antioxidants were registered during all examination sessions. However, the C(OS) topped the control value, which indicated an insufficient content of the AOS components and the OS activation. The results can be regarded as a pathogenetic substantiation for the use of drugs inhibiting the OS activation in massive blood loss.
