  • Title: [Age-related characteristics of mast cells in choroid plexus of human brain ventricles].
Author: Turygin VV, Babik TM, Boiakov AA.
    Journal: Morfologiia; 2004; 126(6):61-2. PubMed ID: 15839256.
    Abstract:
Mast cells of choroid plexus of lateral, III and brain IV ventricles were studied in humans aged 21 to 88 years. Mast cell number, degranulation and saturation with biologically active substances (BAS) were defined and appropriate indexes subsequently calculated. Mast cell population in the given localization was found to be not numerous. It was characterized by the prevalence of non-degranulating or weakly degranulating forms with a high degree of BAS saturation. Aging is associated with the decrease in both mast cell number and their indexes of BAS saturation and degranulation.
