Title: [Wnt signaling and bone metabolism]. Author: Asaba H, Sakai J. Journal: Clin Calcium; 2005 May; 15(5):813-8. PubMed ID: 15876744. Abstract: The Wnt family of secreted signaling molecules is essential in embryo development and tumor formation. In addition to the Frizzled family of serpentine receptors, LRP5, a member of the LDL receptor family, was recently shown to function as Wnt receptor. The finding of unique mutations in the human LRP5 gene as a modulator of bone mass establishes the importance of this novel and unexpected role of Wnt/LRP5 signaling in bone development and bone metabolism.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
