Title: [Studies on chemical constituents from the flowers of Carthamus tinctorius L]. Author: Liu Y, Yang J, Liu Q. Journal: Zhong Yao Cai; 2005 Apr; 28(4):288-9. PubMed ID: 16104502. Abstract: OBJECTIVE: To investigate the chemical constituents from the flowers of Carthamus tinctorius. METHOD: The chemical constituents were isolated and repeatedly purified on silica gel column. They were identified and structurally elucidated by means of physio-chemical constants and spectral analysis. RESULT: Eight compounds were identifed as palmitic acid (I), 1-O-hexadecanolenin (II), trans-3-tridecene-5,7,9,11-tetrayne-1,2-diol (III), trans-trans-3,11-tridecadiene -5,7,9-triyne -1,2-diol (IV), coumaric acid (V), daucosterol (VI), apigenin (VIl) and kaempferol (VIII), respectively.
