Abstract: Clinical diagnosis of optic neuropathies is based on the association of visual loss, altered color vision, relative afferent pupillary defect (if the optic neuropathy is unilateral), and changes in optic nerve appearance. Clinical characteristics often allow an etiologic diagnosis.
