Title: [Indwelling transurethral catheter]. Author: Hofstetter A. Journal: MMW Fortschr Med; 2005 Sep 15; 147(37):47-9. PubMed ID: 16193878. Abstract: Apart from injuries occurring during catheter placement, the most important of the risks associated with indwelling transurethral catheters are incrustation of the catheter and infection, possibly leading on to urosepsis. Recommended countermeasures are the application of strict criteria when establishing the indication for catheterization, reversion to alternative measures, such as condom urinals, and the careful selection of catheter material.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
