Title: [The role of hepatobiliary scintigraphy in neonates with persistant jaundice]. Author: Thomsen MK, Lange A, Frøkiaer J. Journal: Ugeskr Laeger; 2005 Sep 26; 167(39):3675-8. PubMed ID: 16219213. Abstract: Hepatobiliary scintigraphy of infants being examined for persistant neonatal jaundice is best carried out using mebrofenin, a 99m Tc-labeled IDA derivative. This article summarizes the most frequently occurring etiologies of persisting neonatal jaundice and the diagnostic work-up of this condition. Perinatal obliteration of extrahepatic bile ducts requires immediate surgery, whereas other causes of persisting jaundice may be treated medically and/or conservatively.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
