    Abstract:
    BACKGROUND: Hiccups, or singultus, are an abrupt, intense contraction of the inspiratory muscles accompanied by closure of the glottis and are experienced by most people. people. CASE: A 41-year-old woman with a large uterine myoma presented with recurrent and intractable hiccup boutsfor 1 year. The hiccups resolved spontaneously after hysterectomy. CONCLUSION: A uterine leiomyoma, especially the subserosal type, might become a possible etiology of hiccups when large enough to cause irritation of the vagus or phrenic nerve.
