Title: Molecular characterization of rotavirus gastroenteritis strains, Iraqi Kurdistan. Author: Ahmed HM, Coulter JB, Nakagomi O, Hart CA, Zaki JM, Al-Rabaty AA, Dove W, Cunliffe NA. Journal: Emerg Infect Dis; 2006 May; 12(5):824-6. PubMed ID: 16704845. Abstract: Of 260 children with acute diarrhea in Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan, 96 (37%) were infected with rotavirus. Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction identified G1, G4, G2, G9, P[8], P[6], and P[4] as the most common genotypes. Eight G/P combinations were found, but P[8]G1 and P[4]G2 accounted for >50% of the strains.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
