Abstract: A 27-year-old patient on CAPD presented with febrile illness and abdominal pain suggestive of peritonitis. Dialysis fluid culture yielded Enterococcus. Response to treatment was slow, with pain persisting. Laparotomy revealed a toothpick, which was causing peritoneal irritation.
