  • Title: Macrolactin N, a new peptide deformylase inhibitor produced by Bacillus subtilis.
Author: Yoo JS, Zheng CJ, Lee S, Kwak JH, Kim WG.
Journal: Bioorg Med Chem Lett; 2006 Sep 15; 16(18):4889-92. PubMed ID: 16809037.
    Abstract:
A new 24-membered ring lactone, macrolactin N, was isolated from a culture broth of Bacillus subtilis and its structure was established by various spectral analysis. Macrolactin N inhibited Staphylococcus aureus peptide deformylase with an IC50 value of 7.5 microM and also showed antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and S. aureus.
