Title: Evaluation of Entamoeba histolytica antigen and antibody point-of-care tests for the rapid diagnosis of amebiasis. Author: Leo M, Haque R, Kabir M, Roy S, Lahlou RM, Mondal D, Tannich E, Petri WA. Journal: J Clin Microbiol; 2006 Dec; 44(12):4569-71. PubMed ID: 17035498. Abstract: The bedside diagnosis of amebiasis could improve patient care. In Bangladesh and Vietnam, a novel and simple-to-use Entamoeba histolytica rapid antigen test had 97% sensitivity and 100% specificity compared to the results of a standard enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay antigen detection method, and a rapid antibody test had 89 to 100% sensitivity and 89 to 95% specificity.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
