Abstract: Diaphragmatic hernia complicating pregnancy rarely occurs, but it is frequently misdiagnosed. A strangulated diaphragmatic hernia in a pregnant patient presents a true surgical emergency, and delay in operative intervention can result in fetal and maternal mortality in as many as 50% of cases.
