    Abstract:
    A brief review is made of the new PDM, the Psychodynamic Diagnostic Manual. They are mentioned its principal foundations and conceptual ideas, coming basically from psycho-analysis, as well as the critical differences with the DSM IV R, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual. Part I is especially commented: the Classification of Adult Mental Health Disorders, based on personality patterns and disorders, profile of mental functioning and the subjective experience with symptoms. Part II presents the Classification of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Disorders. Part III includes relevant scientific papers on the conceptual and research foundations for a psycho dynamically based classification system for mental health disorders.
