Title: Social anxiety disorder treatments: psychosocial therapies. Author: Foa EB. Journal: J Clin Psychiatry; 2006; 67 Suppl 12():27-30. PubMed ID: 17092193. Abstract: Controlled clinical trials in social anxiety disorder (SAD) have shown benefit with the use of medication and cognitive-behavioral therapies as well as incorporation of combined therapeutic modalities. This article briefly summarizes the literature on the outcome of group and individual cognitive-behavioral therapy for SAD and concludes that individual therapy is superior to group therapy.
