Title: Heifer development: reproduction and nutrition. Author: Larson RL. Journal: Vet Clin North Am Food Anim Pract; 2007 Mar; 23(1):53-68. PubMed ID: 17382841. Abstract: The nutritional development of heifers from birth to the time they become pregnant with their second calf is a critical component of cowherd management. Veterinarians can use targeted body weights and condition scores to monitor progress and gauge future reproductive success throughout heifer development. Supplementation with fat, minerals, and additional undegraded intake protein has not been consistently reported to enhance the reproductive function of heifers.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
