Title: [Interpretation of BMI in student's health education]. Author: Sterkowicz S, Pelc Z, Bubka Z, Proniewicz J. Journal: Rocz Panstw Zakl Hig; 2006; 57 Suppl():53-7. PubMed ID: 17472063. Abstract: Cross-sectional studies were conducted on 35 female and 22 male AWF students in order to describe the connection of self-evaluation of one's physique with the results of the studies of body ingredients. The students were surveyed and submitted to the Tatina weight measurement: BMI, fat scale with body water percentage. Basic statistical methods and graphical method of body ingredients analysis were employed to the research. It was observed that movement factor, taking both male and female AWF students lifestyles into consideration, plays similar role in shaping body ingredients. Women, however, go on a diet more often. Graphical method gives a great opportunity to make a comparison analysis of body mass and body ingredients factors. Female self-evaluation of physique correlates with other measurements and factors than male. Evaluation of body structure based on BMI criteria may be misleading.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
