    Abstract:
Health education is one element of health promotion. An analysis of cultural output through the ages shows the presence of a wide variety of health issues. These issues are also seen in Polish literature, beginning with the "father "of Polish literature, MikolajRej. In his work, "Zywot czlowiec ka poczciwego" (The Life of a Kind-Hearted Man) he writes for the first time of promoting a healthy life-style. In later epochs of literature questions of health were also important to many authors, including A. Frycz-AModrzewski, B. Prus, E. Orzeszkowa and S. Zeromski.
