Abstract: The aim of this review was to present the latest developments regarding maternal condition in cases of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy. The changing clinical picture and altered hormonal milieu were related to the underlying cellular and molecular pathomechanisms. Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy may be considered as an obstetric endocrinopathy.
