Title: A wet chemistry method for the construction of silver nanosandwichs using laponite clays. Author: Carias H, Marquez M, Hernandez FE. Journal: J Nanosci Nanotechnol; 2007 Jul; 7(7):2331-4. PubMed ID: 17663248. Abstract: Herein, we report a method for the construction of new silver nanostructures in aqueous solution with potential applications as nanocapacitors. A synthetic clay composed of disk-shaped particles of approximately 30 nm in diameter and 1 nm thickness, called laponite, was treated with activated Ag solution and allowed to react overnight to form silver nanodisks on each face of the clay in a sandwich assembly. The products of this reaction were analyzed by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
