Title: Hemoptysis complicating Scimitar Syndrome: from diagnosis to treatment. Author: Nedelcu C, Carette MF, Parrot A, Hammoudi N, Marsault C, Khalil A. Journal: Cardiovasc Intervent Radiol; 2008 Jul; 31 Suppl 2():S96-8. PubMed ID: 17763899. Abstract: We report the case of a 24-year-old patient with known scimitar syndrome presenting with hemoptysis. Multidetector CT angiography showed the scimitar vein draining the right lung to the inferior vena cava associated with right lower lobe bronchopulmonary sequestration. The presence of hemoptysis associated with scimitar syndrome is likely secondary to an anomalous systemic arterial blood supply. We treated this patient successfully with transcatheter occlusion of the anomalous feeding arterial vessels.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
