    Abstract:
The utilisation of research results in nursing is demanded by a new legislation in Switzerland. Scientific literature on the diffusion of nursing research results demonstrates that this issue is difficult and complex. This study explores the perceptions of practice-based nursing tutors of nursing students in the French speaking region of Switzerland concerning such transfer practice. The aim is to find indicators which may permit adequate decision making in order to facilitate nursing practice based on scientific research results. The Barriers scale of Funk et al. which refers to Roger's diffusion theory was employed as the measurement instrument. The data were subjected to quantitative and qualitative analysis. The results demonstrate the obstacles with regards to the practice-based nursing tutors themselves, to the professional environment, to research, and to paths of communication. Various suggestions are raised by the respondents in all these areas.
