Title: Arteriovenous fistulas of the facial artery after mandibular surgery: treatment by embolization. Author: Saini A, Jackson JE. Journal: AJR Am J Roentgenol; 2008 Jan; 190(1):W35-40. PubMed ID: 18094270. Abstract: OBJECTIVE: We describe three cases of arteriovenous fistula (AVF) that developed between the facial artery and facial vein after mandibular surgery, two after sagittal split osteotomy of the mandible and one after the removal of an infected dental bridge, and discuss the embolization techniques that were used for their successful treatment. CONCLUSION: AVF between the facial artery and vein can be successfully treated by embolization and is usually best achieved by occluding the facial artery on both sides of the arterial injury.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
