    The Perioperative Nursing Data Set (PNDS) is the standardized nursing language for documentation by perioperative nurses. The usage of this language is the essential framework for documentation standardization in the operating room. This article explores 2 specific patient outcomes and how the usage of the PNDS helps guide actions taken by registered nurses in the operating room. Furthermore, this article gives a brief overview of the history of the PNDS, and how this language helps improve nursing outcomes and promotes the profession of nursing.
