  • Title: Large scale sequencing.
    Author: Stein L.
Journal: Curr Protoc Bioinformatics; 2003 Aug; Chapter 11():Unit11.1. PubMed ID: 18428694.
    Abstract:
DNA sequencing and assembly is the Philosopher's Stone of bioinformatics, where the raw material of wet lab enzymatic chemistry is transformed into the bits and bytes of sequence information. The sequence information becomes the foundation for extensive downstream analyses. This unit provides a brief overview of the sequencing process. It describes several software programs typically used for base calling, assembling, and finishing sequence data such as STADEN, Phred, Phrap, and Consed.
