  • Title: [Pancreatic pseudocyst in acute pancreatitis. Clinical and ultrasonographic analysis during one year of follow up].
    Author: Hidalgo Arzola OA.
    Journal: G E N; 1991; 45(3):196-204. PubMed ID: 1843952.
    Abstract:
We prospectively studied the clinical and sonographic evolution of 23 patients with pancreatic pseudocysts after acute pancreatitis. The following sonographic features were analyzed: shape, limits, size, content, presence of debris, septa and localization. Septa were present in 22%, debris were infrequent. At 6 weeks precise limits could be observed in 74%. The only US change that had prognostic change was the size. Few complications, no mortality and spontaneous resolution in 86% of the patients makes us question the need for early drainage procedures in these patients.
