Title: [Prognosis factors of hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy. Clinical study]. Author: Jiménez P, Napolitano E. Journal: Rev Med Chil; 1991 May; 119(5):538-42. PubMed ID: 1844292. Abstract: We studied 16 patients with anoxic brain damage who were followed for 2 days to 13 years. EEG was performed in all patients and somatosensory evoked potentials were recorded in some. Age older than 50 years, coma, truncal damage and myoclonic seizures were associated to a negative outcome. A high mortality rate was present in patients with isoelectric or epileptiform EEG. In contrast, all patients with normal auditory and somatosensory evoked potentials are alive without sequelae.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
