Title: [Hypnosis as an alternative treatment for pain in palliative medicine]. Author: Peintinger C, Hartmann W. Journal: Wien Med Wochenschr; 2008; 158(23-24):674-9. PubMed ID: 19165446. Abstract: Pain--which can have a variety of causes--constitutes a severe problem for patients in need of palliative care, because this pain usually dramatically impairs their quality of life. Thus, the more advanced a terminal illness has become, the more hospital staff should focus on holistic treatment, encompassing body, mind and soul of the patient. Apart from conventional medication-based pain therapy, there is also a variety of non-medicinal treatments for pain. One of these methods is hypnosis, an imaginative treatment that activates available resources; it is not only an effective way of alleviating pain, but it also can ease psychological problems at the same time.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
