    Author: Fracasso T, Pfeiffer H.
Journal: Am J Forensic Med Pathol; 2008 Dec; 29(4):352-3. PubMed ID: 19259025.
    Abstract:
Simon's bleedings are hemorrhages into the anterior aspect of the intervertebral discs of the lumbar region and are usually considered a classic sign of vitality in cases of hanging with full suspension of the body. The presented case shows that such a finding can also occur in cases of incomplete hanging. This paper renews the knowledge of this important sign classically described in the German medicolegal literature.
