Title: [Tobacco smoking and drug interactions]. Author: Molden E, Spigset O. Journal: Tidsskr Nor Laegeforen; 2009 Mar 26; 129(7):632-3. PubMed ID: 19337332. Abstract: Tobacco smoking increases the turnover of many drugs due to induction of drug-metabolizing enzymes. Smokers therefore require higher doses of agents such as clozapine, olanzapine and theophylline than non- smokers. Enzyme induction declines after smoking cessation and without concomitant dose reduction there is an increased risk of adverse effects.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
