Title: Microbial communities in industrial environment. Author: Maukonen J, Saarela M. Journal: Curr Opin Microbiol; 2009 Jun; 12(3):238-43. PubMed ID: 19447068. Abstract: There is a wealth of techniques that can and have been used for the characterization of industrial microbial communities. Recently, especially PCR-based methods have been starting to replace culture-based approaches, and in microbial community analysis, for example, high-throughput methods such as denaturing high-performance liquid chromatography (DHPLC) have been utilized for analysis of industrial samples. In this manuscript we will review the advances achieved in the identification and quantification of industrial microbial communities in addition to progress in the study of microbial diversity and function of the industrial microbial communities.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
