Title: Right atrial fibroma requiring emergent intervention in an 8-week-old infant. Author: Oster M, Kogon B, Shehata B, Fyfe D. Journal: Congenit Heart Dis; 2009; 4(3):190-2. PubMed ID: 19489949. Abstract: Cardiac fibromas are extremely rare in children and typically do not involve the right atrium. We report the case of an 8-week-old infant with a right atrial fibroma who presented acutely in profound shock. Echocardiography revealed a large mass occupying the right atrium and obstructing flow through the tricuspid valve, prompting emergent surgical resection. To our knowledge, ours is the youngest patient to survive complete resection of a right atrial fibroma.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
