    Abstract:
    Overall 85 patients with different forms of parkinsonism placed under observation were examined for lipid fractions in the blood serum and cerebrospinal fluid. The greatest increase of blood serum phospholipids was discovered in patients with postencephalitic parkinsonism; patients with vascular and posttraumatic parkinsonism, tended towards their decrease as compared to the control group. In patients with Parkinson's disease, the content of phospholipids in the blood serum was within normal. In patients with postencephalitic parkinsonism and Parkinson's disease, there was a rise of lysolecithin and sphingomyelin. In the authors' opinion, the rise of the content of lysolecithin and sphingomyelin points to retention of myelin degradation products in the blood serum because of inhibition of enzymatic biochemical reactions.
