Title: [On X-ray diagnosis of pathologic conditions of paranasal sinuses]. Author: Kariuk IuA. Journal: Vestn Otorinolaringol; 2009; (3):47-50. PubMed ID: 19692968. Abstract: A method for X-ray examination of paranasal sinuses is proposed ensuring an optimal possibility for the assessment of their condition regardless of anatomical structure of the skull. X-ray imaging is performed with the skull sagittal plane being perpendicular to the plane of the X-ray cassette and the X-ray beam directed strictly into its centre through the selected anatomical structures. High quality of X-ray images irrespective of the patient's somatic status is ensured due to the absence of projective overlap between temporal bone pyramids and lower portions of maxillary sinuses. Another advantage of the method is reduced radiation exposure of the patient. To date, a total of 86 patients has been examined by the proposed method in the clinical hospital No 1, Southern Medical Centre of the Federal agency for healthcare and social development.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
