    Abstract:
The total number of 233 yersiniosis cases were reported in 2007 in Poland. The incidence rate was 0.62 per 100,000 population. In this year 182 cases of enteric yersiniosis and 51 cases of extra intestinal yersiniosis were notified. About 61% of patients were hospitalized. No death linked to yersiniosis were reported. The most frequent clinical manifestations of intestinal yersiniosis were diarrhoea (100% of cases), high temperature (79%), abdominal pain (38%) and vomits (31%). Out of 51 extra intestinal cases of yersiniosis 40 (about 78%) patients had acute arthritis symptoms from osteoarticular system. In 2007 2 outbreaks of yersiniosis were reported. One of them was caused by Yersinia enterocolitica O8 serotype. Both were small family outbreaks. The serotype was determined only for 75 isolated strains of Yersinia enterocoolitica. Most of them were Yersinia enterocoolitica serotype O3 but there were also 11 cases caused by Yersinia enterocolitica serotype O8 in our country.
