Title: [Salmonellosis in Poland in 2007]. Author: Sadkowska-Todys M, Czarkowski MP. Journal: Przegl Epidemiol; 2009; 63(2):229-35. PubMed ID: 19799251. Abstract: The total number of 11,934 salmonellosis cases were reported in 2007 (13,362 in 2006), the incidence rate was 30.7 per 100,000 population. In total 251 outbreaks were reported involving 2 083 cases. The most common type of outbreaks were household outbreak. Over seventy percent of patients were hospitalized. However, in outbreaks the proportion of hospitalized persons was significantly lower--34%. As in previous years the seasonal peak was observed in July and August. Salmonella Enteritidis was the most frequently isolated serotype of Salmonella and constituted over 80% of cases. Children aged 2 are the most affected age group--incidence 373 per 100,000 population.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
