    Abstract:
PURPOSE: To evaluate the clinical effect of using high concentration Pingyangmycin to treat vascular malformation in oral and maxillofacial region. METHODS: One hundred and fourteen patients with venous malformation in oral and maxillofacial region (50 males and 64 females, age range: 12-76 years) were treated in our department from 2002 to 2008. The lesions ranged in size from 2.0cmx1.5cm to 15cmx10cm. Pingyangmycin (about 8mg/3mL) was injected into the center or periphery of the venous malformation, the injection was repeated every 15 to 30 days when necessary, and may be conducted for 1-5 times. Based on clinical data, retrospective analysis was carried out for the patients who had been followed up for 0.5-5 years after the last treatment. The scale of the results was graded to excellent, good, fair, and poor. RESULTS: The curative rate of subcutaneous venous malformation and mucosal venous malformation was 92% and 96%, respectively. CONCLUSION: It can be concluded that Pingyangmycin injection at high concentration is safe and effective in the treatment of venous malformation in oral and maxillofacial region.
