Abstract: Upper respiratory tract infections (URTI) are very common throughout infancy and childhood, with many children getting multiple infections throughout their lives. Most of these are caused by viruses, and so there is no specific treatment beyond that required to control the symptoms, and few infants and children will benefit from the administration of antibiotics.
