Title: Chronic venous disease. Author: Wolinsky CD, Waldorf H. Journal: Med Clin North Am; 2009 Nov; 93(6):1333-46. PubMed ID: 19932334. Abstract: Identifying characteristic cutaneous findings is important in determining the appropriate management of certain venous diseases. The health care provider should be familiar with the classic description of patterns and distributions of skin manifestations, such as varicose veins, stasis dermatitis, palpable cord, petechiae, and telangiectasias. In addition to the gross appearance of the skin, a skin biopsy may help elucidate a diagnosis. General treatment and prevention of the underlying venous pathology is essential. Furthermore, specific management of skin findings should include therapy to ameliorate progression of disease and symptomatology when warranted.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
