Abstract: A case of pneumococcal necrotizing soft-tissue infection (NSTI) is described and 16 cases available in literature are reviewed. Pneumococcal NSTI seems to be the consequence of hematogeneous shedding of pneumococci, with frequent involvement of articulations.
