Title: Structure of two sulphated oligosaccharides from respiratory mucins of a patient suffering from cystic fibrosis. A fast-atom-bombardment m.s. and 1H-n.m.r. spectroscopic study. Author: Lamblin G, Rahmoune H, Wieruszeski JM, Lhermitte M, Strecker G, Roussel P. Journal: Biochem J; 1991 Apr 01; 275 ( Pt 1)(Pt 1):199-206. PubMed ID: 2018475. Abstract: Human respiratory-mucin glycopeptides were isolated from the sputum of a patient suffering from cystic fibrosis. They were subjected to treatment with alkaline borohydride. Application of ion-exchange chromatography afforded carbohydrate fractions containing sulphate. One of these fractions containing a mixture of sulphated oligosaccharides was subsequently submitted to gel-filtration chromatography and h.p.l.c. Two sulphated oligosaccharide-alditols, A and B, were prepared; their structure was determined by means of 400 MHz 1H-n.m.r. spectroscopy and fast-atom-bombardment m.s. They had a core type 2 and the sulphate was 3-linked to a terminal galactose residue: (Formula; see text)[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
