Title: Surgical treatment of a 56-year-old woman with an intracardiac type of total anomalous pulmonary venous connection. Author: Feng Q, Wu S, Yu G. Journal: Thorac Cardiovasc Surg; 2010 Apr; 58(3):175-6. PubMed ID: 20376729. Abstract: Total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (TAPVC) is a rare congenital cardiac anomaly. Death usually occurs in the first 3 months of life in about 50% of neonates with this disease, and no more than 20% of patients survive to the age of 1 year. The patient with the longest recorded survival is 49 years old. Here, we report successful surgical treatment of this disease in a 56-year-old female patient. This patient was discharged in good health about 1 month after operation, with no evidence of recurrence of heart failure at 13 months' follow-up.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
