Title: [Ménière's disease]. Author: Hansen S, Thomsen J, Cayé-Thomasen P. Journal: Ugeskr Laeger; 2010 Apr 12; 172(15):1130-5. PubMed ID: 20427005. Abstract: Ménière's disease is a chronic illness characterized by intermittent episodes of severe vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and aural pressure. The spells last from minutes to hours and are often associated with vegetative symptoms. Up to 50% of the patients are affected bilaterally over time. The etiology is unknown and the diagnosis is based on the history and the physical examination. The primary histopathological finding is endolymphatic hydrops. The treatment during spells is symptomatic and the preventive intervention can be separated into a conservative and a destructive regime.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
