  • Title: [Identification of treponemes in paraffin-embedded sections, using an anticomplement immunofluorescence technique].
    Author: Heid E, Battistelli-Lux C.
Journal: Ann Pathol; 1991; 11(2):128-31. PubMed ID: 2053990.
    Abstract:
Treponema in syphilis or non venereal treponematosis can be demonstrated in paraffin embedded tissues, with immunological techniques. Anti-C3 immunofluorescence shows treponemas in 6 of 12 biopsies from 8 patients suspected of treponematosis. This method is easier and quicker than silver impregnation in spite of weak sensitivity.
